The obligatory Michael Jackson post.
The story started developing about a half-hour before my workday ended yesterday. Every website said something different, with CNN saying they couldn't confirm he was unresponsive, to TMZ putting up the "Michael Jackson dies" post at around 4:30, then taking it down for an hour, then putting it back up. Of course we all learned later last night the he had, in fact, died somewhere around that time.
I wish I had more to say... it's kind of a difficult subject to blog about, becuase I don't think it's really caught up with me yet. I guess I had always sort of considered MJ to be immortal... I just assumed he'd never die. Eventually he'd be all artifical parts and go on to rule the universe from a throne made out of golden monkeys or something. As strange as he had become in recent years, it's impossible to forget being a kid, dancing made-up routines with my sister and my friends to "Beat It" and, of course, "Thriller". The latter is one of my top 5 favorite songs of all time, as I'm sure it is for many. You really can't beat it (ha, get it) as far as the catchiness, the beat, the tune... everything. It is nearly impossible to listen to that song and not move your ass.
So for today, and probably many to come, I'll be jammin' out to his entire collection, and remembering being a kid, thinking he was pretty much the coolest thing I'd ever seen.
RIP to the King of Pop.
